Apply for Utilities Assistance

Requirements

Before applying, please ensure you meet the program requirements:

  • You must reside in Collin County
  • You must be experiencing a documented financial crisis

You must provide:

  • A valid photo ID for all adult household members
  • Proof of income for everyone in the household
  • Proof of residency
  • A copy of your current utility bill
  • Documentation supporting your financial hardship, if applicable
  • Applicants must also be willing to develop a plan for maintaining financial stability, which may include participating in our workshops.

Important: The Assistance Center does not accept walk-in appointments for financial assistance. All applicants must complete the online application form first. If your application is approved, a case manager will contact you to schedule an appointment. Walk-in requests for utility assistance cannot be accommodated.

The Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs offers utility assistance programs for eligible low-income Texas homeowners and renters.  Assistance may be available for electricity, natural gas, propane, water, and wastewater through local providers.
